Everything You Need to Know

From arrival to departure — here's what to expect before, during, and after your trip to Wild Alaskan Lodge.

Getting Here

Wild Alaskan Lodge is located in Pelican, Alaska — a remote fishing community accessible only by float plane or boat. We will arrange and pay for your round-trip transportation to the lodge via the 50' high-speed catamaran 'Highliner Express'. The trip to Pelican in itself is a spectacular experience!

You will need to fly into Juneau International Airport (JNU), then connect with the Highliner Express in Statter Harbor (~5 miles north of the airport). Please plan to arrive in Juneau before noon in order to connect with the Highliner Express, which departs Juneau promptly at 2:00pm. If you miss the boat or would like to take a float plane instead, you may arrange that at your own expense with Alaska Seaplanes. On your departure day from Wild Alaskan Lodge, the Highliner Express picks up all of our guests and fish boxes/luggage at 6:30am. Please schedule your departing flights for after 1:30pm.

What to Bring

Pack for variable Southeast Alaska weather — layers are essential. Waterproof rain gear, rubber boots, and warm mid-layers are a must regardless of season.

All fishing gear is provided. You do not need to bring rods, reels, or tackle... although you are welcome to bring some of your own gear. We offer additional rental equipment such as electric reels, spooled and ready for deep dropping to depths over 1000 ft!

Fishing Licenses

All guests must hold a valid Alaska sport fishing license for the duration of their stay. Licenses can be purchased online through the Alaska Department of Fish & Game prior to your trip.

Non-resident licenses are available in 1-day, 3-day, 7-day, and 14-day increments. We recommend purchasing before you travel.

Purchase your Fishing Licenses at the ADFG Online Store

Check-In & DAILY SCHEDULE

Upon arrival, our team will check you into your rooms, size you for rain gear, and show you to the dining room for a 3-course plated meal. After dinner, you will be given an orientation of the boats, equipment, and fishing areas to ensure that you can hit the ground running as early as 6:00am the following morning. When you return to the dock each evening, our team will clean/fuel your boat, drop off your fish for processing, and get you all squared away for tomorrow's adventure.

Breakfast is served at 5:00am each morning and although attendance is not mandatory, you will need to check in with the lodge manager and file a float plan before dep

Weather & Conditions

Southeast Alaska weather is unpredictable. Expect rain, fog, and wind at any time of year. Calm days are spectacular — and they do happen — but guests should be prepared for all conditions.

Fishing is self-guided, so you set your own schedule. On rough weather days, guests can choose to stay in, fish closer to the harbor, or explore the surrounding area.
