Limits on Range of Operation

Because Northern SE Alaska — and in particular the area we fish — is extremely rocky, with rocks hidden beneath the surface, strong tides that run against the wind building dangerous waves, and weather that can change dramatically and quickly, you are restricted to the following areas under the following conditions.

Calm SeasWaves under 2' · Swell less than 4' · Wind less than 10 mph

You may fish anywhere on the outer coast of Yakobi Island, north of Cape Cross. The southernmost boundary of the fishing grounds is Cape Cross. You may also fish anywhere in Cross Sound and Port Althorp (behind Three Hill Island).

Moderate SeasWaves up to 3' · Swell up to 6' · Winds 10–15 mph

You are restricted to Cross Sound, Lisianski Inlet, and Lisianski Strait. If ocean waves and swells pick up or the wind starts blowing through Cross Sound, you will be restricted to the semi-sheltered waters of Cross Sound, Lisianski Inlet, and Lisianski Strait — allowing you to fish safely while staying shielded from the worst of the open gulf swells.

Dangerous SeasWaves greater than 4' · Swell greater than 6'

Lisianski Inlet and Strait only. When small craft advisories hit or a severe storm system rolls in from the Gulf of Alaska, your boundary lines shrink entirely to inside waters. You will be confined to the highly protected Lisianski Inlet. The inlet offers excellent, calm-water fishing for salmon, halibut, and rockfish right up against the steep shorelines.

Safety & Weather Protocols

Changing weather requires prioritizing safety over your catch. When weather turns severe — sudden drops in barometric pressure, thunderstorms, high winds — you must immediately seek shelter in Lisianski Inlet or return to the dock.

Lodge management reserves the right to issue mandatory recalls to Lisianski Inlet when weather conditions become unsafe.

Your chart plotter is programmed to show you the boundaries of operation.

You are required to have your snail trail on your chart plotter at all times. Turning this off will result in the immediate termination of our services.

Termination of Trip

Fishing outside of the daily designated boundary or turning off the snail trail on your Garmin GPS will result in immediate termination of your trip.
